Since the pet industry is relatively new and expanding rapidly, there is a shift from basic function-focused accessories with little to no aesthetic input to luxury brands participating in the pet industry. A couple of years back luxury brands took the pet industry by storm with cute pet collections from big players like Tiffany & co, Hermes, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana many many others.
Pet parents were quick to jump on this luxury train and we thought our furry friends couldn’t get any more luxurious and we were wrong - 2024 has revolutionised pet luxury.
Last year saw many iconic moments, from dogs making their first comeback to vogue since the late 1980s in The Dogue Days of Summer, to the doggy takeover of the New York Fashion Week where pups showcased brands like Nicole Miller, Tommy Hilfiger, D'Marsh Couture and others. As a cherry on top Louis Vuitton launched their Dog Lovers collection for the most stylish of pups.
When taking a look back it is clear that there is no limit to how much consumers are willing to spend on their pets and big players are here to deliver. We have truly seen it all (or so we thought) with dog luxury hotels & resorts, dog airlines, spa & grooming salons and even a dog cruise ship. So the question remains … What's next?
Where does this bring us in 2025…
Judging by the previous years we believe the luxury trend within the pet industry will continue to grow and prioritise customisation, innovation and of course wellness.
It is easy to assume that 2025 will see more luxury brands participating and quite possibly dominating in the pet industry creating cute designs and high-end experiences. This is an exciting time for this trend as brands will start to compete in the pet industry which will drive innovation and force them to push boundaries.
